Tho following officers were elected at the annual meeting of the Te Kuiti Defence Riflo Club:—Patron, Mr. J. C. Rolleston; president, Mr. I). Mcljeay; deputy-presi-dents, Messrs. J. H. Blackburn, A. Allison, H C. Evans, -J. T. K. Dodds; eecretary, Mr. H. Mueller; auditor. Mr. S. J. Williams; executive committee, Messrs. R. H. Blackburn, W. Cunnold, J. Thomas, J. O'llagan, A. Danrell, P. Hnghes. It was decided to hold the club'e flrst shoot next month. u MILITARY MEETING Over SO prospective competitors in the voluntary military rifle meeting to be held at the Penrose range on Labour Day visited the range on Saturday afternoon for practice. Although weather conditions were bad and the attendance was not as high as had been expected, some valuable practice was secured. The self-handicapping system to be used at tho meeting was tried, with satisfactory results. The second lowest actual score tied for first place on handicap, while the best score tou'c tenth place on handicap. The new 200 yds. range for shooting at iron plates was brought into use und proved successful. This range is expected to b» of great value during the competition.
