FIRE DESTROYS HOUSE
RESIDENCE AT DARGAVILLE OCCUPANTS ABSENT AT TIME Pby telegraph—OWN correspondent] DARGAVILLE. Friday The third fire'in the district within a month took place at a late hour last night, when Mr. E. W. Toogood's fins two-storey residence at Duck Creek, on the outskirts of the town, was destroyed, together with the valuable contents. A .neighbour, who was awakened by" the loud barking of dogs, gave the alarm. The fire brigade turned out promptly, but, as the outbreak was two miles from the fire station, • the house was burning fiercely when the brigade reached the scene and nothing could be done hut watch the destruction of the building. No one was on the premises at the time of the ontbreak. Mr. and Mrs. Toogood having been summoned to Auckland dur- [ ing the afternoon, and they left by the steamer at five o'clock.
