WEDDING

Mclaughlin—watson The celebration of the marriage of Miss Joan Ngaire Watson, only daughter of Mr. and Mrs. I'. Ferrier Watson, of Lower Hutt, to Mr. Thomas Wills McLaughlin, second son of Mr. and Mrs. T. McLaughlin, of Domett Avenue, Epsom, on the same day on which the golden wedding of the bride's grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. 11. Kinder, and the silver wedding of her parents occurred, was a charming and happy feature of the ceremony which took place yesterday afternoon. The wedding was celebrated in the attractive setting of King's College Chapel, which was beautifully decorated with spring flowers. The Rev. 11. K. Archdall officiated, assisted by the Rev. C. A. B. Watson, uncle of the bride. The bride, who was given away by her father, wore a beautiful Early Victorian frock of brocaded taffeta in a very delicate shade of pink. The quaint tight-fitting pointed bodice had long close sleeves and the very full billowy skirt was finished with two lines of picotedged frills round the hem and the hips. Her veil of heirloom rose-point lace covered the face and fell from a wreath and clusters of orange blossom in cascades over the shoulders to form a small train. She carried a Victorian posy of small pink flowers. In attendance as bridesmaids were Miss Dorothy and Miss Patricia Matthews, of Lower Hutt. They were dressed alike in frocks of peach-pink chiffon cut in diagonal lines at the waist and falling from there in full graceful folds to the ground. Over their frocks were worn long-sleeved coatees of ring velvet in a slightly deeper shade, the backs being gracefully swathed into a knot, the ends of which fell to the hips. Their widebrimmed pink chip straw hats were swathed with ring velvet and ornamented at the back with a single jade green rose, and each attendant carried a sheaf of pink flowers. The bridegroom was attended by Mr. Edward Firth as best man and Mr. Tony Firth as groomsman. Following Die. ceremony the triple reception was held at \\oodcroft, Arney Road, Remuera, the home of the bride's grandparents, where the beautiful garden, bathed in sunlight, made a delightful setting for the function. The wedding Itcakfast was served in a large marquee erected on the lawn. The bridal (able was decorated with bowls of pink-shaded flowers and beside it was another table for Mr. and Mrs. H. Kinder, which was graced with golden (lowers in honour of their golden wedding anniversary. To receive the guests Mrs. Ferrier Watson wore a frock of wine silk marocain pin-tucked at the waistline and finished with a vest of buff-coloured lace. Her hat was of buff-coloured pineapple straw relieved with wine, and she carried a bouquet of cyclamens. Mrs. H. Kinder was in a winecoloured frock with a vest and of French lace encrusted with diamante. With it she wore a black liat trimmed with a wine feathered mount. Mrs. T.
