POSTAL DELIVERY SCHEME
CRITICISM AT ONEHUNGA REQUEST FOR PRINTED MAPS The new postal district numbering scheme was the subject, of criticism by members of the Onehunga-Manukau Chamber of Commerce last evening.
While recognising the value of the system in expediting the delivery of mail matter, it was generally agreed that it would be years before it would be adopted by the general public. Very few people, it was contended, knew the designation of other than their own districts, and it was decided to ask the postal authorities to publish and circulate maps of the chief centres for public information.
Mr. H. J. Petchell, postmaster at Onehtfnga, announced that his department intended to supply such maps to the public schools only.
