QUEENSLAND SUGAR.
APPEAL TO THE GROWERS.
SACRIFICES NECESSARY.
BRISBANE, July 12
Mr. A. J. McLachlan, Vice-President of the Federal Executive Council, visited the Queensland sugar areas. He told the growers he had come as an emissary of peace to try to get them voluntarily to agree to a revision of the sugar agreement, which connotes a reduction in the price of sugar to the Australian people in accordance with the Prime Minister's policy speech. The Government was anxious that the sugar interests should make sacrifices at least equal to those of other industries.
