HOCKEY TOUR MISSED.
MISFORTUNE OF PLAYER.
FALL IN RUNNING FOR TRAM. As the result of a fall last week, H. Jones, one of Auckland's representatives in the. New Zealand hockey team, which is to sail for Australia from Wellington on Friday, was given medical advice on Monday that it would be impossible for him to travel with the team- His nomination had to be recalled, but no definite advice had been received yesterday as to his replacement.
The mishap occurred on Friday when, in running to catch a tram, Jones slipped and fell heavily, receiving injuries to tha knee. Complications set in and on Monday two doctors expressed the opinion that it would be at least a month before he would be able to plav a hockey match.
The accident is particularly unfortunate as Jones, who is one of the youngest members of the team, would have gained much benefit from the tour. He is a ® forward in the North Shore senior team.
