STORMY WEATHER AT SEA.
CONDITIONS DELAY VESSELS.
HAURAKI AND SOMERSET.
Although the weather has been fine for two days at Auckland, stormy conditions have prevailed in the southern Tasman Sea and to the north and east of New Zealand.
The Westport Coal Company's steamer Canopus is duo from Westport at eight o'clock this morning, having been delayed for about 24 hours by stormy weather which she experienced after leaving Westport on Saturday. The Union Company's motor-ship Hauraki ' was due from Los Angeles, via Cook Islands, this afternoon, but a further wireless advice states that she is being delayed by the weather, and expects to arrive late this evoning. The Federal Line steamer Somerset was duo from Liverpool at eight o'clock to-morrow morning, but she is also being delayed, and the time of her arrival is uncertain.
The Maunganui, which reached Auckland from Sydney yesterday morning, experienced a west-north-west gale and rough following seas for about 24 hours after she left Sydney oil Friday afternoon. The Aorm centre, however, was to the south, and as the Maunganui proceeded toward New Zealand the weather continued to improve, light variable winds and smooth seas being experienced on the coast.
