DEARER BUTTER TO-DAY.
LOCAL PRICES RAISED.
PENNY A POUND INCREASE. An increase of a penny a pound in the price -of butter is expected to operate generally in Auckland from to-day. The upward movement is in sympathy with the firming of the London market. The wholesale price of butter has recently been a pound net, but from to-day the rate for first-grade brands will be ll£d, and it is expected that the price for over-the-counter sales will be increased from Is to Is Id. However, there has been a little variation in retail prices recently, making it difficult to fix a general figure.
