WEEK-END IN AUCKLAND.
DEPARTURE FOR AUSTRALIA.
The world leader of the Salvation Army, General E. J. Higgins, accompanied by Mrs. Higgins, will arrive in Auckland from Hamilton by motor-car this morning. They will leave for Sydney by tho Aorangi on Monday on their return to England after having visited Canada and the United States as well as making a four-weeks tour of New Zealand. Meetings will be addressed at the weekend by both General and Mrs. Higgins.
STAY IN HAMILTON. CIVIC RECEPTION GIVEN. [from our own correspondent.] HAMILTON. Friday. A civic reception was given General Higgins and Mrs. ITiggins on their arrival in Hamilton from Rotorua to-day by the Mayor, Dr. F. D. Pinfold, and members of the Borough Council. There were over 300 present General Higgins addressed a large meeting this evening on the work of the Salvation Army.
VISIT TO ROTORUA. WELCOME BY THE MAORIS. [by telegram.—own correspondent.] ROTORUA, Friday. General Higgins was welcomed at Rotonia last evening on behalf of the Maoris bv Mr. P. Pitama at a concert Riven in his honour by the Maori Concert Party. General Higgins visteri Whakarewarewa in the afternoon and said he had been greatly impressed by the thermal activity and the welcome he had received from the Maoris. While General Higgins was at Whakarewarewa \\ aikiti geyser was active, and Puarenga gave a beautiful display. . , General Higgins was accompanied by Mrs. Higgins. Colonel Pugmire, Commissioner and Mrs. Cunningham and _Ens.cn Pallant They arrived from Wairakn vesterdav, where the party had visited the Geyser Valley. At General Higgins request* no official functions were held, as he was resting from the onerous duties of his tour. The party left to-day for Putaruru, en route to Hamilton.
