PRESIDENT'S HANDICAP.

OUTSIDERS IN DIVIDENDS. Two outsiders. King's Airher and Cay Cockade, filled the dividend places in the President's Handicap, the winner returning a double-figure dividend and Gay Cockade just a little under. Speculation on the race was brisk and most support was given to Antique, Gibraltar and Chief -Joy. Several horses gave trouble at the post and when the start was effected Alloy and Royal Doulton both got away badly. Jalldy Karo reached the lead quickly and at the end of a furlong he was in front from Chief Joy. Antique, Imperial Prince, Gay Cockade and Llanore. Turning into the back stretch Jalldy Karo. Imperial Prince and Cruachan were together, ahead of Chief Joy and Te Money, with Alloy and King's Archer running up. Cruachan then ran to the lead at the six furlongs post, but he gave way at the five furlongs to Taneriri, who, in turn, was supplanted by King's Archer at the cutting, where the colours of Alloy, Cruachan, Autumn Sun. Imperial Prince. Gibraltar. Chief Joy and Awaken were also prominent. King's Archer drew out nearing the turn and he rounded the bend three lengths clear of Taneriri, who was followed by Alloy. Cruachan, Gibraltar, Autumn bun. Awaken and Chief Joy. Nothing had a chance with King's Archer in the straight and lie won decisively by a length and a-halt from Gay Cockade, with Awaken a neclc away third. Gibraltar was fourth, succeeded by Llanore, Antique, Jalldy Karo, Cruachan. Star Stranger and Taneriri. The winner galloped in his rery best style and was always going like a winner over the last half-mile. Gay Cockade finished strongly on the outside and his effort was his best for a long time. 4 Awaken and Gibraltar both ran fine races and Gibraltar just faded out of a place in the last 50 yard 3. Llanore made a creditable showing and Antique was running on strongly after being well back with &vo furlongs to go. Star Stranger also ran on at the end. but Taneriri weakened in the straight after being taken to the front too early with his 9.0.
