SALE OF CITY BUILDING.
THE BRITISH CHAMBERS. PURCHASE PRICE, £30,000. ' A well-known city block of shops and offices, British Chambers, in High Street, was yesterday sold at. auction by T. Mandeno Jackson, the price being £30,000. Only one bid was received, that of the purchaser, E. Porter and Company, Limited. Of reinforced concrete, the building is of seven storeys and is on a section with a frontage of approximately 50 feet: It was owned by Cleave's Building, Limited, and was sold at the request of the first mortagee, Emily Porter, under conduct of the registrar of the Supreme Court. The building was erected in 1928 and it was stated during the hearing of a Supreme Court case this week that it cost £28.000 and that the section cost £20,500, making .a total of £48.500.
