LATE BROTHER CALIXTUS.

REQUIEM MASS HELD.

WIDE SYMPATHY EXPRESSED.

There was a large attendance at the Requiem Mass held in St. PatricA'i Cathedral yesterday morning for the lata Brother Calixtus, director of the Marist Brothers' school. At the impressiv* service Dr. Buxton was master of ceremonies, Archdeacon Holbrook was celebrant and Father O'Doherty and Father Bennett were the assistants.

Addressing t.lj e gathering, Bishop Liston siaid all present, Catholics and nonCaholics, bishops, priests and laymen, were similarly affected by sorrow at the loss of Brother Calixtus. His memory would always leave a challenge to lead the fullest Christian life.

Among those present were many members of the Marist Order, Marist Old Boys, religious orders in the diocese and pupils of the Roman Catholic schools and convents. Brother Phelan and Mr. J. Coleman represented the Wellington Marist Brothers. A large number of athletic bodies, in which the late Brother Calixtus was always a keen worker, were also represented. Mr. H. Frost, chairman of the Auckland Rugby Union, and many of the executive members, Mr. M. J. Sheahan, representing the Waikato Rugby Union, and Mr. Ernest Davis, representing the Auckland Football Association, were among those present. Messages of condolence were received Arom Marist Brothers Old Boys, Wellington; Sacred Heart College Old Boys, Auckland and Wellington; St. Patrick's College Old Boys, Wellington; St. Patrick's College, Silverstream; St. Patrick's College, Wellington; the Mill Hill Fathers; Marist Fathers, Wellington; Auckland Rugby Football Union; Marist Brothers Old Boys' Football Club, Hamilton; Auckland Primary Schools' Rugby Union: Technical College Old Boys' Rugby Football Club; Northeote Football Club; Mount Eden Swimming Club; and~~ Marist Brothers Old Boys' Tennis Club.
