OUTBREAKS OF FIRE.
house saved by brigade. BENZINE DRUM ALIGHT. The use' of a blow-torch by painters in burning off the old paint on a house at 13, Sussex Street. Grey Lynn, owned and occupied by Mr. D. Norgrove, was responsible for an outbreak of fire at 3.41 p.m. yesterday. The Grey Lynn Fire Brigade confined the flames to one room, the outer wall of which was burned. The damage, which is estimated to amount to £2O. is covered by insurances.
Through the ignition of benzine, which was being poured into a drum, fire broke out, in the tanning works of Sutherland and Company, Princes Street, Onehunga, at 10.23 a.m. yesterday. The Onehunga Fire Brigade was called out, but the outbreak was largely under control before its arrival. Tho damage was confined to a quantity of pelts, which were affected by fire and water.
