FARMERS' INTERESTS.
WAIUKU ANNUAL MEETING. [from our own correspondent.] WAIUKU, Friday. The question of seceding from the Auckland executive of the Farmers' Union was included , in the notice convening the annual meeting of the Waiuku branch of the union, which was held to-day. Mr. Bater, organiser for the union, was present and explained the benefits which the executive had been instrumental in securing for members. He mentioned the reduction in insurance costs obtainable through the union's own insurance scheme as one item which had saved farmers more than their annual subscription to the union. No motion for seceding was put. The following officers were elected: — President, Mr. A. White; vice-presidents, Messrs. F. A. Harcombe, J. 0. Crouch, and Hull; secretary, Mr. C. I. Harkness; delegates to Franklin sub-pro-vincial executive, Messrs. White and J. M. Wit ham. Resolutions were passed urging the Government to grant, a free exchange market and to admit British goods to New Zealand free of duty. -
