YESTERDAY'S SALES. RETURN ON INVESTMENTS. Following is a list of yesterday's transactions 011 New Zealand Stock Exchanges. In Hie second column is given the return, based on the last annual dividend, from investment at the quoted price. In the case of Government and other redeemable securities the return includes redemption. In calculating the. returns on shares in companies which pay their dividends outside New Zealand exchange rates, being liable to fluctuation, have not been taken inlo consideration. LONDON, Feb. 2-1 Wheat.—Cargoes are firm and in good demand. Sellers are asking 3d higher. There are prospects of furl tier large business in. Russian cargoes for Greece, via the United Kingdom. A cargo by the Renarty sold at 28s 9d net; cargoes by the Clumber Hall and Holland Maru at 28s 9d; part of the Clan Stuart's at 28s lOjrl; the Ban-grove's, at, 28s 6d net; and a cargo by a Victorian steamer, MarchApril, at 29s lgd. Parcels are active. Mamtobas are 6d dearer, and Australians and River Plates 3d. On the Sydney investment market today there was a distinctly unfavourable reaction as a result of the attitude of Mr. Lang legarding the Commonwealth proceedings against New South Wales and there was a further general marking down of values. Gas and electricity scrip also suffered a setback in consequence of the threatened legislation to restrict, dividends and fix prices of cas and electricity. Most issues of Commonwealth bonds were lower, but banks were practically unchanged. Closing sales were: Four per cent, bonds, 1938, £94 12s 6d; 1941, £92 17s fid: 1947. £9l 17s fid; 1950. £9l ss: 1959, £9l Is 3d; 1961. £9O 17s fid.
