THE AUCKLAND EXCHANGE. CONDITIONS STILL QUIET. Conditions remained quiet, and easy in the. investment, market on the Auckland Stock Exchange yesterday, when very jiltle business was recorded until the ,'tfternoon call. Iho bulk of this was done in Government, securities, for which levels again declined. At £94 1938 4A per cent. War Bonds wero done 35s below the price they realised early in January. Sleady rates were realised for 1933 5i per cenls., which had salo at £9B 15s, while 1937 5£ per cents., which were secured at tho same price, wore 15s easier. Support was weaker for 1937 SJ, per cent, stock and two parcels changed hands 2s 6d lower at. £9B 12s 6d. More were available at £9B 15s, buyers offering £9B ss. The market for banks displayed litt ln life. Australasias were taken unaltered at £9, but apart from that there was no movement of importance. Similar conditions operated in insurance. Support for New Zen lands, which remained on offer at 38s, was withdrawn, but I here was si ill inquiry for South British at current rates. A selling quotation of 45s 6d for Standards received an offer of 425. Tils most, notable movement in general investments affected Colonial Sugars, which were traded at £37 15s, ;i, tall of £l' 12s 6d on the level of the last local business, which took place a week ago. British "Tobaccos lost the ground they gained on Tuesday, inquiry weakening 6d to 25s 9d. Holders quoted supplies 3d easier at 26s 6d. Inquiry for mining investments continued to cover a wiclo range. A strong market existed for Black waters, in which business was clone at 6s 9d and 6s lid, as against 4s in December last. Golden Dawns, which developed a recent weakness, were done Is cheaper at 6s 3d. Lower offers at 16s 6d for Waihis secured a. concession of 3d from holders, who quoted 17s 3d. Mount Lyclls wero sought 3d easier at 19s 3d, but holders remained firm. CLOSING QUOTATIONS.
