JUNIOR 'BODY PROPOSAL
The formation of a junior Chamber of Commerce in .Auckland is the objecti\e of a pul>lic meeting railed f°r to morrow evening at the Chamber of fommcice. Junior chambers arc. now operating successfully in connection with the chambers of commerce in many cities in Canada, the United States and in England, l>ut so far as is known, if the formation of a junior chamber of commerce in Auckland results from to-morrow evening's meeting, it will he the first movement of its kind in the southern hemisphere. It is/proposed that the age. of entrv to the junior chamber should be ironi 18 to 30, but that those joining be- / twecn these ages should be permitted to -- continue in it until 35. at which age oi earlier, on their application, they would be transferred to the senior body automatically. The main functions of a junior / chamber would be along the lines of educational, social, industrial, commercial nnu civic activities, without conflicting in any tvav with, and indeed in many ways furthering, the activities of the senior thamber.
