STEAMER ASHORE.
TOTAL LOSS PROBABLE. FATE OF NORTHERN FIRTH. (Received February 22. 12.25 a.m.) SYDNEY, Feb. 21. The inter-State freight steamer Northern Firth (2000 tons), owned by James Patrick and Co., Limited, went ashore on Brush Island, near Jervis Bay, this afternoon. It is reported that the vessel is likely to be a total loss. The crew is safe.
