STEAMER PUTS BACK.

TROUBLE IN ENGINE-ROOM, REPAIRS TO WESTMORELAND. [BV TELEGRAPH. —PRESS* ASSOCIATION.] WELLINGTON. Friday. Shortly after the Federal Line steamer Westmoreland cleared the Heads for New Plymouth at four o'clock this afternoon trouble was experienced with the starboard turbines. The Union Company's tug Terawhiti proceeded to the Heads and accompanied the steamer back to the wharf, which was reached at seven o'clock this evening. It is thought that the turbine is-strip-ped. Repairs will be effected in Wellington. It is hoped that they will be completed by Monday.
