TEACHERS' APPEALS.

CASES OF MARRIED WOMEN. SIX APPLICATIONS UPHELD. TWO OTHERS DEFERRED. Six appeals by married women teachers in the Auckland district against the termination of their engagements were upheld by the Teachers' Appeal Court yesterday. Of the remaining nine appeals set down for hearing', six were dismissed, two deferred until next. Friday, and in the last case the board withdrew its notice of termination of engagement as tlie teacher's husband had lost, his employment since his wife's appeal was lodged. The grounds on which the six appeals were upheld were not announced by the Court. The Act provides that married women who wish to continue in the profession must show that their dismissal would cause undue hardship. The sitting was held yi camera in the Education Board's building before Mr. E. C. Cutten, S.M., chairman, Mr. C. R. Munro, representing the board, and Mr. F. 11. Brown, representing the Teachers' Institute.
