LYTTELTON CREW WINS.

NINTH RACE DECIDES ISSUE. GOOD LEAD MAINTAINED. [BY TELEGRAPH. —PRESS ASSOCIATION. ] WELLINGTON. Saturday. The eighth annual contest in holds of the Takapuna 12ft. 6in. one-design class, sailed by junior yachtsmen representing nine centres in the Dominion, was brought to a successful conclusion at Wellington to-day after a week of very strenuous racing. The Lyitelton crew (W. Tissiman and 11. Hendry) won the cup, securing their third win in the ninth race this morning. The race was sailed in a light southerly. There were no mishaps. Porirua, the only other crew with two wins, was second—two minutes back. Christ church was third. The presentation of the cup was made this afternoon Ly the Mayor, .Mr. T. C. A. Hislop. Tile Lyitelton hoat was never seriously challenged once it took tho lead. Porirua established a slight lead shortly after the start, but by smart spinnaker work tho Lyttellon boat drew up and went ahead. Otago also moved up, but the others were strung out at intervals, with Wellington last. Soon after the second round started, Lyitelton still held a useful lead, and Christchurch had weathered Porirua and taken second place. Porirua soon sailed through the leo of Christchurch, but was unable to make any impression on the leading boat.. Soon interest in the race was confined to Porirua and Lyttellon. but Lyttelton's lead was now sale, Tissiman, her skipper, taking no risks, and Lyitelton won by exactly two minutes, with half a minute between Porirua and Christchurch. Olago, Auckland, 'Plimmerton and Wellington followed in that order. CONFERENCE OF DELEGATES. AUCKLAND REMITS WITHDRAWN. [by telegraph.—press association.] WELLIN G TON, Saturday. The annual meeting of delegates to the Cornwell Cup contest was held to-day. Auckland remits concerning the definition of the term "port" and the approximate date of next year's contest were withdrawn. A proviso that three months' notice of remits should bo given to all associations was included in the rules. It was decided that in future crews should bring to tho contest their own running gear, as well as sails.
