SUBMARINE VICTIMS.
MEMORIAL SERVICE HELD. DISCOVERIES BY DIVERS. PLANS FOR RAISING CRAFT. By Telegraph—Press Association— Copyright. (Received February 7, 5.5 p.m.) British Wireless. RUGBY, Feb. f5. Salvage work on the sunken submarine M2 was temporarily suspended to-day while a memorial service was held on the Adamant, the parent ship of the submarine flotilla, over the spot where the submarine sank with its 60 victims. The Admiralty states that the diving operations have revealed the fact that not only the door of the hangar but the hatch of the upper conning tower was open. The forward hatch and the engineroom hatch were closed. It his not yet been ascertained whether the hatch of the lower conning tower and the one inside the hangar giving access to the interior of the submarine were closed or open. The position of the M2, says the Admiralty, precludes raising her by means of hawsers. Air will be pumped into the submarine until she comes to the surface. If tides and weather are unfavourable there may be a postponement of these operations till April.
