BAD FEELING CAUSED.

OLYMPIC WINTER GAMES. SCANDINAVIANS DISGRUNTLED. 9 (Received February 7, 5.5 p.m.) NEW YORK. Feb. fi. The Olympic winter games were continued to-d;iy at Lake Placid, New York. Jack Shea won the final of tho 1500 metres ice skating race. Alex. Ilurd, Bill Logan and Frank Stack, all Canadians, were second, third and fourth respectively. A feature of (lie hoats was the amazing subjugation of the Scandinavian champions and record holders. Three Canadians and three Americans qualified, eliminating among others Ivar Ballangrud, Bernt Evensen and Hans Engenstangen, of Norway, Ossian Blomquist, of Finland, and Carl Lindberg, of Sweden. The unfamiliarity of the Norwegians, Finns and Swedes with the North American style of racing man against man instead of racing against time, and the consequent decisive defeat of their champions, has generated bad feeling among the foreign delegation. Some of the Scandinavians have determined never to race in the United States again. The trial heats in the 10,000 metres skating championship were declared no races after an hour's angry debate last evening over the disqualification of two Canadians and one United States competitor. A Japanese, three Americans, four Norwegians and one Finlander were declared qualified for the final. I The heats were raced again to-day. Frank Stack and Alex. Kurd (Canada), Irving Jaffe, E. Schroder, Valentine Bialis and E. Wedge (United States), Bernt Evensen and Ivar Ballangrud (Norway) qualified in two heats fur the final on Monday. In the hockey championship Canada defeated Germany by four goals to one, and tho United Stales defeated I'oiand by the same margin.
