CHINESE LEAVE DOMINION.
DISPOSAL OF BUSINESSES.
JAPANESE FRUIT BOYCOTTED,
An unusually large number of Chinese have booked passages by Hie Ulimaroa, which will leave Auckland for Sydney this morning. Twenty-one Chinese men and two Chinese women will s;iil by Ihe vessel and it is that a further number have hooked passages on the Manama, which will sail from Wellington for Sydney this afternoon. There were no bids from Chinese for between .300 and 400 cases of Japanese oranges and mandarins at the Auckland City Markets yesterday. The fruit, which was brought from Kobe by the Brisbane Maru, was in good condition, and sold readily to Europeans. It is reported, however, that Japanese fruit was also difficult to quit in Wellington, where the majority of the fruiterers arc Chinese. It is understood that many Chinese are. doing their best to dispose of their businesses, in order to obtain cash. In nearly every case where deals have been completed, the purchasers have been Chinese.
