BLOCKHOUSE BAY.
TITLE TO RECLAMATION. OFFER BY HARBOUR BOARD. The foreshore now being reclaimed at. Blockhouse Bay for use as a recreation ground will eventually bo vested in the Auckland City Council by the Auckland Harbour Board. Tho board has informed the council that it is prepared to offer a lease for 21 years at a "peppercorn" rental. There is a promise, that if the work of reclamation is carried out to the satisfaction of tho board, it will vest the area in the council, either as a road or for recreation purposes. Such an arrangement will lie subject to the riparian lights of tho area being reserved to the board.
This offer was referred by the council last, evening to the Parks Committee for consideration, the city engineer having expressed the opinion tlint the conditions appeared to be satisfactory, although the question of riparian rights should be looked into.
