The Bombay Government has decided to adopt drastic measnres to deal -with organised violence, -which is a serious menace to the peace of the city. The police have acted with the utmost restraint so far and have refrained from firing on aggressive mobs. Now, however, instructions have been issued to the police to fire on crowds which refuse to disperse. In replying to questions in the Assembly. Sir Evelyn Howell, Foreign Secretary, stated that since December, 6000 persons, including Congressmen, have been arrested in various districts of the NorthWest Frontier Province. The total now in the frontier gaols is 10,000.
