WELLINGTON LOANS.
£900,000 DUE THIS YEAR.
SINKING FUND AVAILABLE. It Willi announced by the Mayor of Wellington. Mr. T. C. A. llislop, at- a meeting of the Finance Committee of tho City Council this week that loans amounting to £900.000 were due for renewal in 1932, and that it looked as though a good deal more would have to be paid by the council owing to increased interest and exchange. Mr. 11. A. lluggins said that the position was not so bad as the Mayor had indicated, as against the £900.000 there was £369.000 accumulated sinking fund over one-third of the loans. He doubted whether tlie council would liavo to pay any more in 1932 than it did last year. With such a sinking fund to bo taken into consideration thero was no reason for undue pessimism.
