GOLF CHAMPIONSHIP.
Sir, —It is to be hoped that golf clubs of tho Auckland Province will unite in a protest to the New Zealand Golf Council against the championship meeting being held at Heretaunga this year. Eight years ago the meeting was held at Middlemore, since when tho thousands of golfers of this province have been given no opportunity of following the championships. Two years ago, certainly, the Tilirangi Club was given every reason U> believe that Titirangi would be allotted tho fixture. Tho plea of economy is a farce—very few of the regular competitors arc unable to afford the extra fare. Even so, what, of tho poverty of our own golfers ? Perhaps ono of your readers could supply tho information as to what proportion of New Zealand golfers are in the Auckland Province. Niblick.
