FINANCIAL TROUBLE.
NEWFOUNDLAND'S POSITION. ANXIETY FELT IN LONDON. LONDON, Dec. 23. Reports have reached London that, there is a possibility of Newfoundland declaring itself insolvent. Anxiety is felt as to whether it, can meet the payment of £18,000,000 interest on Government bonds due on January 1. Tho Secretary of State, for tho Dominions, Mr. J. IL Thomas, says ho is aware that Newfoundland's position is serious, being another proof of how the economic blizzard is sweeping the world.
