IF YOU HAVEN'T GOT A GARDEN
If you haven't got a garden I think it's very sad, And all that I can do for you Is just to wish you had. If you haven't got a garden You will not need a hoe To get up all the tiresome weeds That on the pathway grow. If you haven't got a garden It's no use buying seeds; You will not need a watering-can, Or things a garden needs. If you haven't got a garden You cannot watch things grow, Or see the little shoots spring up_, All in a tidy row. If you haven't got a garden You cannot go each day To smell a rose or pick a flower, Or give a bunch away. —From Phyllis Manson, 24. Glen Road Stanley Bay (age 7 years). (Copied.)
