OPERATION WHILE AT SEA
LONDON SURGEON'S FEAT
An American who arrived in London recently told the story of how Mr. Cecil Rountree, a 'West End consulting suigeon, performed a serious operation in mid-Atlantic. The American said Mr. Rountree was travelling to New York on the Bremen with a woman patient who was taken ill in London and on whom he was to operate in New York. On the voyage the patient grew worse and an immediate operation became necessary. The Bremen is equipped with an excellent operating theatre, and, though the operation was a serious one, it was entirety successful. It was not necessary even to slow down the liner. Mr. Rountree returned to London after a stay of only one day in New York.
