JUMP INTO RIVER.
DEATH OF SHIP'S COOK. VERDICT AT INQUEST. [BT TELEGRAPH. —PRESS ASSOCIATION.] GREYMOUTH, Thursday. An inquest concerning the death of William Robinson, aged 36, a native of England, and cook of the steamer Kaponga, who was seen to jump overboard into the Grey River on February 12, was held to-day under the amended Coroner's Act. The evidence showed that no trace had since been found of deceased, who left a letter indicating cstangement from his wife. The coroner, Mr. W. Meldruni, returned a verdict that Robinson came to his death by drowning through jumping into the Grey River from the Kaponga while in a depressed state.
