MANY ACTIVITIES.
Y.W.C.A. MEETING. Mrs. A. D. Campbell presided over the monthly board meeting of the directors of the Y.W.C.A. A welcome was extended to Mrs. W. Comes and to Miss Ashton, general secretary of the Palmerston North Y.W.C.A. Leave of absence for six months was granted to Mrs. I. Bertram.
The president made feeling reference to the loss sustained by the family of Mrs. J. T. F. Mitchell and a resolution of sympathy with Mr. and Mrs. J. Stanton was passed. The standing committees undertook to hold a stall on behalf of the St. John Ambulance Association's street day. Miss Quavle was appointed to represent the Y.W.C.A. at the Mayor's meeting in connection with the New Zealand lerritorial Force Association. The offer of her garden by Mrs. Ct. H. Wilson for the purpose of a garden party in November in aid of association funds tvas gratefully accepted. The chairmen of committees undertook to provide produce, hand-work and other stalls. The general secretary reported on departments, specially mentioning the ex--1 ension of Girl Citizen work in Giev Lynn and the progress of the federated clubs' project on Maori history, art and customs. Most generous help had been given by many experts in Maori loie. Steady help was being given in relief of women's and girls' unemployment by finding positions, providing meals and. assisting with boarding accommodation. Mrs. K. O'Halloran reported on the national hoard meeting of the Y.W.C.A. of New Zealand, held recently in Wellington, and Miss Bentham read the six resolutions 011 women's unemployment sent from that meeting to the Minister of Labour.
