(Received September 12, 1.15 a.m.) SCARBOROUGH, Sept. 11. The match between tho New Zealand cricketers and Mr. Leveson Gower's team was continued afc Scarborough. When stumps were drawn yesterday the visitors, with ono wicket down for 44 in their second innings, were still 162 runs behind. The attendance was 8000. Tho inimitable genius of Hobbs and the. machino-liko solidity of Sutcliffe gave Leveson Gower's XI. a strong first innings lead. Tho famous opening pair gave a display equal to their reputation by scoring more than 200 runs for the first wicket.

Hobbs showed that be is still the finest batsman in England and scored a century from a dazzling array of scoring shots before, he was caught behind the wicket. His duel with Merritt in the morning was brimful of interest. Merritt frequently puzzled him in the early stages, but the veteran batsman gradually managed to wear bis adversary down. His innings lasted for 189 minutes and included twentv fours and two sixes.

Sutcliffc suffered in comparison with Hobbs. Talbot concentrated on bowling oulsido the off stump, and kept Sutcliffe quiet.. The batsman refused to take the slightest risk with the bowling to this spot. 110 was eventually caught behind the wicket off Blunt's first over of the dav.

Duleepsinhji was caught at. mid-off in attempting to force Matheson. Wyatt and Lcyland batted brightly. Wyatt scored 23 runs in one over from Merritt, but in the next over he was stumped when yards out of the crease. This was Merritt's 100 th wicket.

The New Zealand fielding was excellent, and James was in his best form. New Zealand batted for 40 minutes. Mills returned a catch to Allen in attempting to hook a ball. When play was resumed this morning the weather was again fine. Kerr was an early victim to Jupp on the leg side. Dempster began to hit Jupp and Verity, and put them off their length.
