TASMAN FLIGHTS RELIC.

KINGSFORD SMITH'S FLAG. GIFT TO AUCKLAND CITIZENS. The flag which was carried by WingCommander Kingsford Smith and FlightLieutenant C. T. P. Ulm on their flights to and from New Zealand in 1928 is to find a permanent resting place in the Auckland Town Hall. The flag was presented to Mr. L. J. Schmitt, New Zealand Tourist and Trade Commissioner to Australia at n, meeting of the New Zealand Women's Association in Sydney, on August 10, with the intention that Mr. Schmitt should forward it to the Auckland City Council. The presentation was made by Dr. J. S. Purdy, metropolitan medical officer of health for Sydney. In a letter received by the City Council last evening, Mr. . Schmitt said he had thanked the donor. The flag, which was shown to the council by the Mayor, Mr. G. W. Hutchison, is a small blue ensign, measuring about 2ft. by Ift., with the Royal Air Force target badge on the fly. ,
