GEYSERS AT ROTORUA.

ACTIVITY OF POHUTU. SOME SPECTACULAR SHOTS. [from our own correspondent.] ROTORUA, Thursday. After lying dormant for three weeks Pohutu geyser this week has been nnusually active. On Tuesday the geyser played continuously for approximately an hour and a-half, and yesterday some very spectacular shots were witnessed. Last week a rumour was current that YVaiariki geyser, which has been quiescent for the past two years, had again commenced to play but it was discovered that the only demonstration of thermal activity had been that of a boiling pool at the foot of the model pa, which had been induced to spout for the benefit of visitors. This pool can be stimulated into activity by placing bags of sknd across a stream near its outlet. The new geyser which was recently active at Ngapuna appears to have completely died down, and all that remains of the scene of its activity is a large pool of discoloured water.
