HEAVY TRAIN TRAFFIC.
SCHOOL HOLIDAY RUSH.
BUSY WEEK-END PERIOD.
MANY LEAVE. FOR THE SOUTH. The Auckland railway station presented an animated appearance on Saturday morning, and also last evening, when the commencement of the second term holidays for primary and secondary school' pupils throughout New Zealand resulted in a marked increase in railway passenger traffic. There were over 1000 passengers on the three trains which left the city for the South last evening. Heavy bookings were received for both the limited and the Main Trunk expresses last evening and a good proportion of the travellers reserved accommodation for National Park, where the winter sports will bo held this week. A party of students from the Auckland University College left by the limited express and they were followed by another party from the Auckland Grammar School, which left by the later train. Both trains were filled, the limited taking 300 passengers and the Main Trunk express 400. About 350 passengers were carried on the excursion (rain which returned to Hamilton last evening. Among these were the members of the South Auckland' League football team, who were returning to their homes after playing a representative game against Northland on Saturday. Large numbers of school children left on their holidays for various parts of the Auckland Provinco on Saturday morning. The Kaipara, Rotorua, Thames and Tanealua expresses all had additional carriages.
