PAKURANGA HUNT CLUB.

RACES AT ELLERSLIE.

BRIGHT SPRING SUNSHINE.

It was impossible to have had a more perfect early spring day than was Saturday, and the Pakuranga Hunt Club mast have felt itself singularly fortunate to have been favoured with such weather. The sun shone brilliantly from the bluest of skies, unhindered by any passing clouds, but a light breeze with a pronounced sting In it made the sheltered places much sought after. Hie lawns at EllersLie were emerald in their vivid greenness, and the blazing geld of the marigolds and Iceland poppies in the borders and inset beds found a perfect setting against the velvety sward. The willow trees, their hanging tassels delicately outlined with green, were another witness that the winter of memorable wetness ana cold was at its ebb.

| It was too soon vet for the new fashions ! to show themselves to any marked degree, j but there was a distinctively new note j to be seen in many of the hats. Several of these showed the new tilt to the side with, in some cases, a tiny cluster of Sowers under the brim. Most were worn well off the face and some showed a small bandeau. A colour that was pronouncedly a favourite was blue, in shades of cornSower, delphinium, hydrangea and periwinkle, and another colour was raspberry red, seen in several ensemble suits.
