i The -weekly meeting of the Writers' ; Club took place on Friday afternoon, > Mrs. L M. Cluett presiding. There was | a large attendance of members and guests. J The exercise for the afternoon took the j form of a mystary story. So popular ; was the subject that the reading of sevi eral members* stories had to be postj pooed until a future meeting. Each ! member read her own story, and a series \ of thrills resulted, many of the plots | dealing with personal experiences of the j occult. Maori revenge, dire results fol- | lowing the white man's breaking of Maori | tapu were some of the subjects. Much I interest was taken in Mrs. Cluett*s power- ! fully written untitled story, dealing with • similar supernatural happenings occurring to both father and son, with fatal results to the latter. The lighter vein was supplied by Mrs. Gilbert in the Chinese art shop, and Miss Be M-on talk's midnight adventure. .Among other members who submitted stories were Mesdam.es Mineholdt, Byburn, Donst, Fisher, Nello Porter, ilisses Joy Porter, Molly Ryburn, Hart Smith.
