RUN OVER BY A TRAIN.
LAW CLERK KILLED. FATALITY NEAR KAIAPOI. [by telegraph.— pbess association.] CHRISTCHUKCH, Sunday. A fatality occurred on the railway line near Kaiapoi last evening. Mr. Charles Arthur Booker, aged 44, an unemployed law clerk, who had been living in a hut at Stewart's Gully, on the south bank of the Waimakariri River, was run over and killed by a train proceeding to Cliristchurch from Kaiapoi. The engi.ie-driver stated that half-a-milo from Kaiapoi he saw a dark object on tho rails, but' was unable to stop before striking it. Several carriages passed over tho body before the train was brought to a standstill.
