"The eommitloo regrets that tho past "season's facing lias resulted in tho first ■ heavy loss the club has experienced," slates the annual report of the Waikato Racing Club, which will be presented at the annual meeting in Hamilton next Friday. Tho financial depression prevailing throughout the season and general economic conditions had had a serious effect upon revenue, continues tho report. In addition, bad weather was experienced at all meetings. These were the main factors in causing tho deficit of £I9GG shown in the profit and loss account. Anticipating a decline in icven le, tho committee substantially reduced tho stakes for the autumn fixture and general expenses were cut down to a minimum, but the abnormal decline in tolalisator investments .and other returns was more than could bo provided for. Owing to bad weather the additional two day 3' racing held was not a financial success. No permanent improvements _to the racecourse had been undertaken during the year, the expenditure having been reduced to work necessary for tho upkeep of the club's property. The financial statement discloses a total income of £21,919, the principal items being totalisator receipts, £15,150; gates and privileges, £2930; and nominations and acceptances, £2091. Expenditure totalling £23,888 included Government taxes, £9302; stakes, £7774; and interest, £2457. The club's liabilities included mortgages, £22,410, and debentures, £12,510. Messrs. G. W. Vercoe and F. R. Seddon are the' only nominees for (he respective offices of president and vice-president and will therefore bo elected unopposed. Tho following seven nominations have been received for< tho six vacancies on the com-, mittee:—Messrs. P.- Clarkin, T. Clarkm, 11. B. C ran well, A. E. Manning, A. Miller, J. C. Potts and R T. Reid.

WORK AT TE AWAMUTU. ALL SOULT IMPROVING. [FROM our own correspondent.] TE AWAMUTU, Saturday. : The track was in first-class order and the weather was perfect for training operations at Te Awamutu this morning, when the course proper was available for fast work. Alotere, who was assisted by Royal Ruler over the last six furlongs, was sent a mile and a-quarter. He moved freely throughout to run tho distance in 2.23, the last six furlongs taking 1.2(5. Both horses worked nicely, without being fully extended. The best effort of the morning was that of the St. Amans gelding in J. Paul's stable, who easily defeated the Illumination—Kiki gelding over four furlongs in 50is. 1 . A. Swney-has a very promising, horse in the son of St. Amans, who is a dashing jumper and has'a fine burst of speed. All Soult surprised by finishing several lengths ahead of King's Knave over five furlongs in 1.5, the last four furlongs occupying 525. All Soult, who is evidently a much-improved horse, is making steady progress. t Loombination and Shanigar finished together aftei running three furlongs in a shade better than 395.
