The weekly quotations for the undermentioned classes of frozen meat are based on actual sales of wholesale quantities of carcases of mutton or lamb, or of quarters of beef delivered to Smithfield market and/or ex London stores. They are compiled by 'the Quotations Committee, Smithfield.
To arrive at tlie equivalent ex ship values, one farthing per pound should be deducted h'om the prices quoted below. Quotations given represent the average for the week and ore not selected lines, but for parcels fairly representative of the bulk of shipments now on offer. Copra.—August-September shipments, nominal, South Sea, £ll 2s 6d (£ll 7s 6d) per ton; plantation, Rabaul, £ll 7s 6d (£ll 10s) per ton. Linseed Oil.—£ls 10s (£l6) per ton. Turpentine.—47s (475) per cwt. WHEAT. Wheat cargoes are steadier with the continued adverse weather, and sellers aro inclined to raise quotations, but trading is less active on heavy Russian shipments. Ex King John 18s 10|d. Parcels are firmly held for 6d advance in Cana-, dians, and consequently Europeans are more interested in the cheaper Australian offers. Ex Port Darwin, 19s 4-£ d; ex Observer, 18s to 19s. Futures : London, September, 17s 6d a quarter; December, 18s 3d; February, 18s lid. Liverpool: October, 3s ll|d a cental, December, 4s Id; March, 4s 3 7-8 d; May 4s 6 l-Bd. The Bank of New Zealand has received the following advice from its London office as at the close of business last week:— Wethers: The market is firm, but there is little business doing. Ewes: The market is firm. Lambs: There is a good demand —smaller supplies have caused prices to harden. Wethers, light, 4|d to s|d a lb.; heavy, 3fd to 4£d; ewes, to 4£d ; lambs, twos, to 7|d; eights, to 7|d; fours, 6|d to 7d; seconds, 7d to 7^d. NEW PRIVATE COMPANY.
