MOANATAIARI PICKED STONE. The following telegram was received on Saturday from the manager of the Moanataiari mine, Thames"Secured 51b. of picked stone, south stope." REPORTS OF MANAGERS. Mahakipawa (Marlborough).—No. 4 east wing drive was advanced to 115 ft. from the south drive. For the last 4ft. the bottom rock has been soft and dipping underfoot. Values of the wash dirt over this distance may be classed as good grade. On the south face, the arched drive has advanced 12ft. in rather stoney wash. A sample showed 3igrns. per dish, which is a distinct improvement. Blocking east and west of the drive south of No. 4 west crosscut has been in good grade wash. Blocking south of No. 4 west crosscut has advanced 6ft., and another good grade cross gutter has been disclosed. From the sluice box last Monday I picked out three pieces of gold of a total weight of 4oz. 7dwt., which I am of opinion came from this face. The larger piece, which contained much quartz, weighed 2o;s. sdwt. Blocking be tween the drive south of No. 4 west crosscut and the main south drive has continued to produce good grade wash.
