WOMEN'S INSTITUTES.
Glen Eden.—At a meeting of the Glen Eden Women's Institute a demonstration of knitting bednx>m slippers was given by Mrs. Erassington. A nursery rhyme competition was won by Miss Erassington. Ilia hostesses were Mesdames Watts and Hill Otakiri.—'The Otakiri Institute met recently and after the usual business Mrs. Tucker gave a very instructive talk upon gardening. -Sirs, jessup gave a lesson in smocking. Hostesses were Mrs. Dvsart, Mrs. Jamieson, Mrs. Rutherford and Mi-» Torrens. Taneatua. —-At, the last meeting of the institute Mrs. Burnett} of \\ aimana, gave a very interesting lesson in paper flower making. A large parcel of goods was packed to send to Sister Esther in Auckland. Visitors were present, from Waimana. Afternoon tea was served by the hostesses. Mesdames Skelton, Ducker and Noble. Waerenga. —A meeting of the institute was held recently, at which several matters of interest were" discussed and several new members enrolled. It was decioed to hold fortnightly card evenings, also a social in October. Mrs. C. Gaiter gave an interesting demonstration of the framing of pictures in passe partout. Hostesses for the afternoon were Mrs. Murray, Mrs. Jefferis, Mrs. Loftus and Mrs. SewclL
