ROTORUA.

The annual danco and five hundred tournament of the South Auckland Public Service Association was held in the Majestic Ballroom this week, the proceeds bein"- in aid of the Major's relief fund. Members of the social committee were Mesdames Fitzwilliam, Menleath, Brothers, Matron Andrews, Misses Dunbar, V. St. Clair, L England, G. Attractive 1 decorations were carried out in the supper room, were the tables were arranged with streamers and ribbons in blue and gold and vases of Iceland poppies and asparagus fern. On Thursday a most enjoyable evening was given to the president of the Rotorua Women's Club, Sirs. N. Keane, by the committee, at the residence of Sirs. W. Steele in Eruera Street. The hostesses •were Sirs. Steel, Sirs. W. E. Richards, Sirs. W. A, Carter, Mrs. Stewart. The evening was spent in competitions and musical items, after which reference was made by Sliss Robinson to the__ splendid | • and untiring efforts of Sirs. Keane, as j president of the club for the past two j years. As Sirs. Keane was retiring from j the presidentship she was asked to accept j a beautiful bouquet of violets and maiden- j hair fern and a handsome cut-glass vase. Among those present were: Sirs. Cheery log fires burnt brightlv in the lounge and bridge room,_ which were decorated with wattle, japonic a and foliage. Dancing took place in the diningroom and on the wide verandah which overlooked the links. Excellent music was supplied by the Slajestic Trio.
