VIENNA EXPRESS WRECKED.
CRASH INTO GOODS TRAIN.
TWELVE PERSONS KILLED.
MISTAKE BY SWITCHMEN.

The Homo to Vienna express collided with a goods train near Loeben and four coaches of the express were hurled into a dry river bed 50ft. below. The engine was derailed.
It is known that 12 persons were killed and 38 injured, and a heavier death roll is feared.
Heartrending scenes were witnessed. Tho rescuers had to cut the telescoped Pullman car and coaches to pieces to reach the victims, who included a number of children who were on holiday. It was found necessary to amputate the leg of a Hungarian priest in order to extricate him.
The driver, .fireman and guard of tho express leaped off at the last moment and escaped injury. Two switchmen, who have since been arrested, by mistake halted tho goods train when the express was due.
