ONEHUNGA BOROUGH.
PROPOSED LOAN OF £IO,OOO. ASSISTING RELIEF OPERATIONS. The Mayor of Onehunga, Mr. E. Morton, reported to the Onehunga Borough Council last evening that advice was awaited from the Local Government Loans Board with reference to the proposed loan of £IO,OOO. The money is being sought for materials required for works proposed to be carried out under the Unemployment Board's No. 5 scheme. Mr. Morton said (he work in view included the concreting of channellings at an estimated cost, of £3290, of Mount Smart Road, £4229, of Church Street, £I6OO, and footpaths, £780; also the sealing and kerbing of Grey, Arthur and other streets, £4OO. The total proposed expenditure would be more than £12,600. Complaints about the condition of footpaths in Captain Springs Road, Grey Street East and Church Street West were referred to the Works Committee.
