HIGHER WAGES URGED.
SECTION Of CITY EMPLOYEES.
Higher wages and shorter hours for attendants at public conveniences are proposals contained,'in a notice of motion to be brought before the next meeting of the Auckland City Council by Mr. F. N. Bar tram. About 19 employees are involved m the proposal. The men are now paid £3 4s 6d a week, less a cut of in per cent., but Mr. Bart rain wishes to increase the amount to not less than £3 12s a week/ representing £4, less 10 per cent. Ho also proposes that the hours of work be reduced from. 56 to 48, that Sunday time be counted as overtime, and that no attendant _ should work on more than two consecutive Sundays.
