NO BANKING LEGISLATION. [])Y TELEGRAPH. —PRESS ASSOCIATION.] WELLINGTON, Tuesday. In reply to a question in regard to legislation for the coming session of Parliament, the Prime Minister, lit. Hon. G. W. Forbes, said that apart from measures for raising funds foi the cany ing on of unemployment relief and rovenue in an endeavour to balance tho national accounts one of tho main bills would be the Transport Bill. It would be largely on tho lines of proposals introduced in the House of Representatives previously, but not proceeded with. Some alterations had been mado as a result of conferences between officers of the transport department and interested bodies. Mr. Forbes intimated that there would be no legislation this year on the currency question. The report of Sir Otto Niemeyer on the banking system of New Zealand would bo laid on tho table of the House and members would be afforded an opportunity to discuss tho recommendations and express their views on tho subject: The' question of what action would be taken by the Government would. be a matter for subsequent decision, but at present there was no intention of intro- • ducing banking legislation this session. It was a matter which required very careful consideration and investigation before new proposals were brought down. Asked if he proposed to open tho licensing question by tho introduction of a bill to give effect to his intention to take power to control the issue of licences for breweries and distilleries Mr. lorbes said there was no need to do that. Tho issue of licences was a matter for the collector of customs and the purpose could be achieved by an amendment to the Customs Act.
