TRAMWAY SHELTERS.
PROPOSAL TO" SHARE COST. REQUEST TO CITY COUNCIL. Severn! applications for tramway shelters were considered by the Auckland Transport Board at its meeting yesterday.' A request was received for information as to tho reason for the removal' of the shelter shed at the corner of Remuera arid Orakei Roads. Tho manager reported that this shelter had been deemed to bo a danger, as motorists could not obtain a clear view when approaching tho comer. Another ' suitable site could not be obtained •
In connection with a request for a shelter shed at tho stopping placo near tho. intersection of Remuera Road and Wairero Road, tho manager reported that, there were many stopping, places without any shelter along thfi tramway routes, and to erect all 4he shelters which ..might be deemed to bo necessary would involve a largo outlay. M theSe shelters could be regarded as an amenity benefiting other than tram passengers, he recommended, that if it was desired to proceed further the City be-approached with a, view to sub&tribih'g half tho cost.' The proposal to approach the City Council was adopted.
